![]() In 1944, my granddad, Alexander Phimister Proctor, lived with our family for the summer. I remember tales he told me of cowboys and Indians, bear hunting and climbing mountains, and the old days of the Wild West. He also taught me to lasso, gave me one of his old rifles and let me roam around in his Indian headdress and moccasins. Before he left our house that summer, he sculpted a bas-relief of me. To this day, when I look at that piece or hold his old tools I recall the smell of clay and the hours of tedious posing (intense fidgeting was more like it). Needless to say, that 84-year-old man and his seven-year-old grandson bonded. Now it is my turn to give back to Granddad by promoting an understanding and appreciation of the art he created. This will be accomplished by selling posthumous Limited Edition Bronze sculptures from this site; opening the A. Phimister Proctor Museum in Poulsbo, Washington; promoting an international exhibition of his works, and having a scholarly book published on his life and work.
