These relief shields were created for the Gifford Pinchot HOME in Washington, D.C. The plasters were on display at The Gorham Co. Founders for an exhibition October 6-25, 1913. Proctor met Gifford Pinchot while visiting the home of Henry Stimson’s father. Proctor and Pinchot became the best of friends, and Proctor named one of his sons Gifford after Pinchot. During a time of few commissions, Pinchot loaned Proctor some money to help him. Identifying marks: trademark coin (underside). Copyright Phimister Proctor Church, 1996.
