In 1893 Proctor traveled from Snohomish, Washington to Chicago to create monumental statues in staff for the World Columbian Exposition. He spent some time in Montana creating a sketch of this Mountain Sheep. It was not used for enlargement at the exposition in that they wanted big animals — Elk, Moose, Lion, Polar Bear, etc.
