BUST OF TEDDY ROOSEVELT 1920 12.75"h x 13"w x 8"d edition of 50 $3,800
This was a model for The Rough Rider, a monumental sculpture of Theodore Roosevelt on horseback, now at the front entrance to the Portland Art Museum, Portland, Oregon. Another monumental size is in Minot, North Dakota. Two other sizes were also castone at Mandan, North Dakota and the other at the Roosevelt House in New York. Roosevelt was a friend of Proctors. He invited Proctor to join the Boone and Crockett Club in 1892 while Proctor was working at the Worlds Columbian Exhibition in Chicago. Later on, Roosevelt commissioned Proctor to create buffalo heads for the State Dining Room in the White House. President Truman remodeled the dining room and these buffalo heads are now in the Truman Museum. Identifying marks: trademark coin (underside). Copyright Phimister Proctor Church, 1996.
