Q STREET BUFFALO 1912 13.75"h x 11"w x 22.5"d edition of 18 $6,700
The plaster for this statue was a study Proctor created for the four buffalo on the corners of the Q Street Bridge in Washington, D.C. Proctor won the competition to create the Tigers for the Sixteenth Street Bridge in Washington, D.C. and the commissioners were so pleased that they gave him the Q Street commission without considering another artist. The body of the buffalo was cast in one section and is reported to be the largest single bronze cast ever poured. Identifying marks: trademark coin. Copyright Phimister Proctor Church, 1996.
