Big Beaver, a Blackfoot Indian, modeled for Proctor on the reservation, at Proctor’s home in Los Altos, California, and at Proctor’s studio in New York City. Big Beaver also modeled for The Mohawk Indian at Lake George, New York and for The Bear Hunter, which was never commissioned. Identifying marks: trademark coin (underside).
